On houseedit.ie, and the sourcing guide of the INSIDERS’ SECRETS Interiors Event, March 2017
Diana Valentine, award-winning blogger, interiors stylist, and owner of interiors concept store home-lust.com writes on her favourite ways of decorating with green…
Spring has finally sprung, and it’s time to embrace its happy hues and beauteous botanical patterns. Here are four ways to introduce green into your home, and where you can stock up on emerald home accessories and living greens in Ireland…
Green, this rich, omnipresent nature colour comes a myriad of marvellous shades, and each one makes a big difference when applied to your interiors. When it comes to greens, interior palettes usually fall into these three camps: fresh, rich or zesty. So which kind of green are you?
If you opt for the cool, fresh side of the green palette, use minimalist pastel accessories and add seasonal plants or warming floral motifs. Should the sophisticated, sultry side of the spectrum appeal to you, pair with lively bursts of primal and neon colours for best effect. Finally, if you are looking for a green to match your playful personality, go for the brighter lime and mustard shades to preserve that lively holiday feel into your home all year-long.
Not ready to paint those walls just yet? Dip your toes into the green trend with accents and accessories in flamboyant teals and opulent emerald shades. They will work themselves perfectly into any white, neutral and grey backgrounds, and will make quite a design statement this year.

There is no escaping plants this year, and, really, who doesn’t want a peaceful, cosy corner filled with luxurious plants in their abode? Or perhaps you want to go a step further and create your own urban jungalow with some fab ferns and monstrous monsteras?
If so, don’t be afraid to bring bigger plants inside. Indoor citrus trees bring height, colour and texture in, and they can enliven a space like no other living green. Use tall figs and easy-care yuccas as space dividers and enjoy the extra-clean air.
If your inner gardener has failed you in the past, and are afraid to embark on yet another inadvertent killing spree, there are always home textiles to play with. The best decorative accents of all, sumptuous, chic fabrics are all the rage this season. Shop for jewel tones and textured textiles with bohemian adornments and wow your guests with your exotic finds, such as the Moroccan bedspread.
