The world’s interior and exterior architecture festivals 2014 – INSIDE | World Festival of Interiors and The World Architecture Festival – took place in the magnificent Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Singapore this past weekend, and here we have a look at the amazing winners.
After a jam-packed programme of inspirational design
and exciting lectures, the judges awarded the prize
of Overall World Interior of the Year 2014
to MOTT32 (above) by Joyce Wang Studio,
Hong Kong, a renovated basement storage facility
that has been transformed into a luxury industrial
New York meets classic Chinese restaurant.
The winner in the Residential category –
Xintiandi – also came from Joyce Wang Studio:
a three-story penthouse with a feature staircase
that winds around a double-height atrium,
and the most stunning views of Shanghai.
Among the great residential projects
the judges had to decide on were:
the Split House from China
and our favourite (above),
the Dune House in New Zealand.

Also this past weekend,
2,000 architects, designers, clients and press
got together for the world’s largest festival celebrating
architectural excellence from across the globe.
The Overall Winner was the Chapel (above),
a community space in a new urban ward
on the outskirts of Hochiminh City, Vietnam.
